"floating high above the Earth"
Dec. 26th, 2014 11:15 pmI finished Get Your Words Out. This was my second year and I'd pledged 350k, up from 300k my first year. I finished at ~447k. Most of that was prose and nonfiction (and a lil fanfic lmao). I feel accomplished. This was a really...new year in my life. I was hospitalized, I withdrew from school and thought I'd have to drop out, I worked May-to-December, and I had some semblance of an adult life. I took a summer class in writing and my professor loved my work and encouraged me to submit to markets.
I struggled with one huge project for most of the year, and it's still not where I want it to be. I'm really frustrated with that, but I trust it'll work out.
I'm doing GYWO for my third year, and only about 75k. In 2015 I'm going to keep working, have an internship, and ideally move out. I have to shift my priorities elsewhere and I don't want to set myself up to fail. I'm also looking to shift my output toward revising/submitting, so that's where a lot of energy is going.
It's respectable! Go me.
